Solutions

Building a noise screen, tailored for the height, the function and the characteristic frequency of the equipment.
Designing a soundproof booth or partially enclosing the machine, taking into consideration noise specification, equipment access and technological requirements.
Installing additional vibroinsulation materials, such as coils or polyurethane padding to separate the dynamic parts of the machine from the static ones, which transmit structural-borne ad airborne noise.
In the case of outlets that transport air or gas, we recommend installing noise-cancelling components, whose form and size is suitable for the geometry, the air flow and the noise reduction levels we seek.
We there are already some enclosing elements in place, we can install additional materials to raise the sound reduction index.

Inquiry

Every client introduces their case; it's vital that you define the source of the noise and the desired results. We then set up a date and time for a visit. Any additional information, such as photos, blueprints and technical drawings gives us an idea of what to expect and helps us prepare better.

On-site visit and measurements

An on-site viewing provides a clear concept of the issues. We learn about the technological requirements of the equipment and operations, measure noise pollution from all sources and come up with a detailed analysis of the nature of the emitted noise. We talk to the personnel and the employees that man the equipment to identify the most efficient approach towards noise reduction. In order to optimize the process, we ask for document, such as blueprints and technical drawings of the production facility and the equipment in question, if such are available.

During the visit, we discuss possible solutions and approaches. We evaluate the scale and difficulty of potential solutions and propose either a project or a ready solution, which we describe in the form of a visit report.

Preparing a report

Within 7 days of the visit, we issue a report, featuring an analysis of the situation and solution proposal or, alternatively, we come up with a design proposal and quote.

The design option is applicable in the following cases:

When it is what the client asks for
It is very often that companies have internal regulations and every process needs to be documented and legalized. Sometimes, the design project is a proof of initiative and intention to deal with a problem, which companies present to autorities.
With large-scale projects
We accept large-scale projects when there is a large number of machines or entire production lines, as well as in cases which require more than one solution or when we seek to optimize the balance between value (quantity of work) and efficiency.
In complex cases
When there are many factors that cause the issue and they can influence the end results, such as characteristic frequency of the equipment, combined with a complex system of processes or in case of a number of noise sources, whose contribution to measurement results are unknown.

The design project can be introduced through the following phases:

Conceptual project
It gives an idea of the geometrical size of the noise-cancellation structure, the technical specifications of the materials used, the results of the solution, and a preliminary bill of quantities.
Technical project
It complements the conceptual project with facility blueprints and details. If necessary, it includes a project, comprising a structural and an architectural component. Information on additional machinery, hourly wages and precise material quantities.
Implementation project
It complements the technical project by providing installation drawings, blueprints for the engineer to carry out.

Manufacturing, delivery and installation of the noise reduction structures

There are three options after the recommendation or design stage:

The first one includes providing design supervisors to control the external companies that manufacture, deliver and install the structures and attest to the correct implementation of the solution before an investor.

The second option is for us to organize the manufacturing and delivery of the structure and materials, collaborating with trusted suppliers, recognized in their field. We then supervise the correct installation of the structure.

The third option involves us organizing all of the processes of the solution production and installation, working with recognized suppliers, manufacturers, and installation teams.

Frequently asked questions

What laws govern noise levels at the workplace?

The legal act that sets out the minimum standards for occupational noise is "Regulation 6 of August 15, 2005 on the minimum requirements for ensuring the health and safety of workers in risk of occupational hazards, related to noise exposure."
What are the permissible exposure limits before you need to take appropriate action? Why is there more than one permissible limit?

The permissible exposure limit is a level of noise exposure that requires employers to undertake particular actions to reduce the harmful effect of noise upon the hearing. There are two levels of intermittent noise:

The lower level concerns daily or weekly exposure to 80 dB, in which case the employer is required to provide information and training as well as to provide supply hearing protection equipment.

The upper level of exposure is defined by average daily or weekly exposure to noise amounting to 85 dB, above which the employer is required to undertake reasonably applicable means to reduce the noise exposure, such as engineering controls and other technical measures. The use of hearing protection equipment is also mandatory if said measures cannot contain the noise or while planning or implementing said measures.

Finally, there is the permissible limit of 87 dB which sets out the level above which no worker can be exposed (the value takes into account noise level after application of hearing protection equipment).
What legislative acts regulate noise levels for territories and development zones?

Table No. 2 of Ordinance No. 6 of 26.06.2006 on "the environmental noise indicators, taking into account the degree of discomfort during the different parts of the day, the limit values of the environmental noise indicators, the assessment methods of the noise indicator`s values and the harmful effects of noise on public health" is the document regulating the exposure limits for noise indicators.
